During the regular weekly 2 meter net the Net Control Station
operator may ask the participants to answer a question. This
is primarily to make the net a little more interesting, but sometimes
the answers are quite revealing. The question is optional, and the
NCS operator may decide to skip it if the net is busy or appears
to be running long.
The question to ask is entirely up to the NCS operator's discretion.
He/she may select a question from the list below or may create
one of his/her own. Questions should be crafted so that the
participants can give very short, simple answers.
The NCS operator should include the question asked and the answers
received in the post-net report sent to the Emergency Coordinator.
The question and answers will eventually be posted on the Web site
surveys page.
Possible questions to ask during the regular net
(Last updated May 17, 2012)
- If a disaster were declared right now, would you be able to
deploy to handle emergency communications somewhere within
St. Louis County?
- Do you have an HF station, and if so can you reach Jefferson City?
- Do you REGULARLY use the amateur 6 meter (50 MHz) band?
- Do you disconnect your amateur radio equipment during storms?
- Have you ever talked about amateur radio to a group of non-hams?
This could have been either a formal presentation or an informal
discussion, but it should have been to a group of at least three
people.
- Would you say that most of your on-air activity is from a base
station, a mobile station, or a portable station?
- Do you usually get on the air during holidays?
- Do you have an HF station, and if so can you reach Springfield,
Missouri?
- Are you thinking about changing your call sign?
- Most amateur radio transceivers can receive frequencies outside
of the amateur bands. Do you REGULARLY use this feature?
