Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, the Emergency Coordinator,
presided over the monthly meeting of the
St. Louis County ARES® group on
October 12, 2009. The Meeting was held at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
Steve welcomed everyone and had everyone introduce themselves. He acknowledged visitors.
He said that the number of registered
ARES®
members is now 94, up one from last month.
Steve gave a brief outline on the new annual renewal and update of
ARES®
member information and why this needs to be completed.
Steve noted that STLCARES, Inc. is seeking new officers.
The next hamfest will be the Halloween Hamfest, held at the Kirkwood Community Center.
It will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009.
ARES®
will have a table.
Steve reminded everyone that the
ARES®
digital net will run from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday nights, right after
the voice net.
Steve said that Rick Crocket, W0PC, will be holding an ARECC class starting October 28, 2009
at the St. Charles Community College. He may be contacted at w0pc@arrl.net for more
information.
Steve held a debriefing for the Field Station Demo & SET.
He gave a very big thanks to Chuck & Mark Wehking; Gary Hoffman; Cece & Burle
Rogney; Dave Fuller, EC of St. Francois County; and Eric Buenman for helping set up and

There were only 3 stations up and running
- HF
- UHF/VHF Digital running MEPN & Winlink
- VHF SSTV plus a receive only station.
We made 10 contacts on the HF station.
Gary ran the SSTV station. He took pictures of all visitors and sent them to a receive-only
station to show how SSTV works. He took photos of 10 non-ham visitors and 6 ham visitors.
Bill Wallace, KC0TGY, gave a presentation on
HSMM (High Speed Multi Media) Radio.1
