Emcomm EC-001 (Revised) Starting on March 28, 2012 (Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:00PM) will be the new revised ARRL “Introduction to Emergency Communication” course. One change in the current class compared with the old EC-001 level one class is now there are 2 prerequisite courses IS-100.b - (ICS 100) Introduction to Incident Command System & IS-700.a National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction. These 2 courses must be completed before the certification test can be given. Both of the prerequisite classes are available online at no cost and can be completed at your own pace http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp. The prerequisites are an introduction to the “Incident Command System” that familiarizes you with the terminology and structure used for Emergency Communications (Emcomm). The textbook for the course is titled “The ARRL Introduction to Emergency Communication Course, 4th Edition”. It can be purchased from the ARRL online at: http://www.arrl.org/shop/The-ARRL-Introduction-to-Emergency-Communication-Course/.
